4'33
NOTE: On iOS 18, the 4'33" app will no longer work. It is working on iOS version up to 18. We are deciding next steps, but since it is working well in the previous operating systems, we want to keep it available as long as we can.

4'33" — John Cage’s most famous and disruptive composition—can now be performed by you!
Cage’s work teaches us that there’s no such thing as “silence’” (and that there’s joy to be found in paying close attention to the sounds around). It’s now available in this official release from the John Cage Trust and Cage’s longtime publisher, C.F. Peters.
With the 4’33” app, you can capture a three-movement “performance” of the ambient sounds in your environment, and then upload and share your performance with the world. You’re also able to listen to the performances of others, and to explore a worldwide map of ever-growing performance locations.
As a bonus, the 4'33" app features a recording of the ambient sounds at play in John Cage’s last New York apartment, which he found a source of constant surprise, inspiration, and delight.
