Comments As Cage described this work: “Twelve tapes to be distributed by a single performer in a space in which people are free to move and birds to fly.” The duration, arrangement, and modulation of the tapes comprising this work were ascertained by means of I-Ching chance operations. Included in the score are instructions for four, six, and eight channels. At the very end is also a reproduction of Cage’s National Audubon Society membership card, with an expiration date of 2/73. |
