Comments This piece was composed for a new production of Merce Cunningham's choreographed piece entitled Experiences (1945), and the two works follow the same rhythmic structure. The text for Cage’s composition is derived from III, one of the Sonnets - Unrealities of Tulips and Chimneys by e.e. cummings. The melodic line is almost identical to that of Experiences No. 1. Note that the new premiere date indicated above is uncertain. |
