Work Title A Room |
Date Composed in 1943. |
Ensemble Type Solo |
Work Length 2 minutes |
Instrumentation For piano or prepared piano. |
Comments This is a short composition with a constant, flowing pulse, set in a minimalist style. It is built around a complex rhythmic scheme – 4, 7, 2, 5; 4, 7, 2, 3, 5 – although this is not really audible. Originally, Cage intended A Room to be part 3 of She is Asleep. |
