Abstract
Retallack and Ives – each of whom have used performative principles in their own work – will collaboratively investigate the poetics of John Cage’s performance lectures in order to say something about Cage’s aesthetic and to generate ideas and experiences that could not emerge in any other way.They will perform their investigation, structured in part by chance operations, within a timeframe no longer than an hour. Conversation with the audience will follow.
